The tempo object for Max/MSP is ok but it is based on whole note divisions. This is normally not a problem, unless you want the number output to reflect quarter-beat measure distribution. In other words, eighth note divisions should be called 0,1 and sixteenth notes should be called 0,1,2,3 and so forth. Quarter Tempo is a simple patch that lets you enter in tempo and quarter note divisions so that the output is beat based. I’ve stripped away the beat multiplier (but it can of course be enabled again if needed) and I’ve added some comments to make it simpler.
