CPU Indicator utility for Max/MSP
By Jaems • Apr 7th, 2008 • Category: SoftwareCPU Indicator has a level indicator using plain english, telling you when you are “Cool”, “Warm”, “Hot”, “Careful”, and “Overload”. “Overload” blinks frantically red. You can turn the dsp on or off. There is a small dummy signal so that you can keep the DSP on even if you close all your running patches.

Different windows of CPU Indicator
CPU indicator won’t close unless you choose “close” from the pulldown menu. Otherwise it quits when you quit Max/MSP. This is an advantage for performance situations where you frequently need to clear your desktop, but you want to keep the DSP on. Keeping the DSP on will avoid shutoff pops and clicks and will assist you in situations where you are running multiple patches in a performance.
CPU indicator has a copy of the onecopy object embedded in it in case you want to put it in your extras or max-startup folders. It is also a good tool for keeping an eye on CPU percentage when you are creating a patch. As always, you can edit all parameters by opening the patch and clicking the window grow tab.
