20 Life lessons learned from Mario games

I bought a used console, and the person who had it before me had already downloaded some of the most popular retro games for the Virtual Console: specifically Super Mario Brothers 3 and Super Mario World. I also purchased Super Mario Sunshine and received Galaxy from my wife for Christmas. In addition, I downloaded the Lost Levels, and played through most of Mario 64 recently. This presented a unique opportunity to compare and contrast the games through time, and this is what I learned.
Life lessons learned from Mario games.
- It’s possible that you can find a shortcut, but you’ll have more fun if you go the scenic route.
- If you fail at the end, remember that you have the ability to get there again.
- If you feel small and insignificant, then remember that even this will give you greater flexibility.
- Sometimes you may feel like you can conquer the world, but remember to stay grounded and work systematically.
- Improvisation can be good, but it’s best to always have a backup plan.
- Try to resist the urge to find the answers online, the rewards are greater when you find them on your own.
- Sometimes even your brother can’t help you.
- Don’t let the bad guys get the upper hand. If all else fails, run.
- Sometimes life requires you to carry your enemies.
- If you can’t run, then don’t try jumping.
- A vine doesn’t grow if you can stand on it.
- Not all pipes can be investigated.
- Not all mushrooms are good for you.
- Choose your treasure wisely: its contents may help you on your way.
- Gambling may get you more cash, but it’s not a very reliable method.
- Even your archenemies can be used for good, but you may have to throw them first.
- If you’ve forgotten the plot, then it’s probably not worth remembering anyway.
- Sometimes it’s not up to you – the world just scrolls on by.
- Learn how to manage your time.
- It’s not over unless you sell your system for cash.
