Vivaldi: L’Estro Armonico Concerto no. 8 in a minor for 2 violins 3rd mvt – arr. for 7 melodicas

By • Sep 25th, 2009 • Category: Online Performances, Video

This is the first non-Bach video that I have done with multiple melodicas, but since Bach rewrote this piece for organ, it still retains some connection to him. I have chosen to use Vivaldi’s original though, since the writing for two solo violins, two tutti violins, viola, and continuo has more of an ensemble texture than Bach’s version for one organist. I rewrote the violin solos only where sixteenth triplets were indicated in the original, otherwise all the parts have been left intact. I have also condensed the solo and tutti parts where unisons are indicated, so that they are only played solo and I have for the first time added a keyboard continuo with chords being played on the Alto Melodica.

The distribution of parts is as follows:
Violin I solo: Alto Melodica
Violin II solo: Alto Melodica
Violin I, II and Viola: Alto Melodica
Cello: Bass Melodica
Keyboard Continuo: Alto Melodica
