hey first of all let me tell you that this app is the best thing ever for a mac
i’m a drummer so i use the metronome all the time and it really made things much easier the way you can change the tempo is amazing but i do have to problems with it
first, i will love that there will be a way that we could save our personal settings because i use the pitch mode and its a pain to see it restart from 0.
and the second,
in between songs sometimes a beat stays sustained for a little bit and then the tempo continues

Thank you for your comments. I have not built the app so it can do what you suggest, but I can definitely imagine working towards a single-window interface with no mode change some time in the near future!

Great app! Is it possible to enter a mode of operation where the tuner AND metronome are visible?? My daily routine involves both simultaneously – it would be great to have this functionality available.

Thanks for the feedback Lorenz. I will be repairing the tuner in update 1.3. It takes a while to polish it to perfection, and I plan on coming much closer with the update. You can use the Check for Updates option from the Extras menu in TapNTune or just check this or related posts. I should be releasing the update within a week.

About the “recovered files”, I am not absolutely sure why that happens. It is normal. and I’ve seen it here on my end, although it usually goes away after I delete it once. It might be related to the application crashing or failing to open for some reason.

I think the metronome part of your device is brilliant!
The tuner, however didn’t exactly recognize the pitches of the electric piano I used for a test. I hit the key of “a” and after I had adjusted the sensitivity, it recognised the note but Tap n Tune kept saying that the pitch was not entirely correct, and setting the calibration didn’t change that. – Do you know why? (May be I made a mistake, but I guess it’s unlikely the electric piano is out of tune)
And: Since I have installed TnT, a folder called “recovered files” keeps appearing in my waste-basket. Does this have anything to do with TnT and is it normal?

Thanks for the requests Roman. They are all good and valid ideas, which will be implemented in version 1.1, due by Valentine’s day (I have to take that day off lol). I still need to test the application with Apple Remote, and I will be including an audio window.

Great app! Some suggestions:

Apple Remote:
I have Remote Buddy, but I staill can’t access all features via the Apple Remot. My sugegstion would be: Play button to start/stop the metronome, up/down-keys to adjust volume, left/right-keys to adjust tempo

Short Cuts:
Please add a shortcut for start/stop metronome, preferably spacebar!!!
The shortcut for help should be Cmd-? and CMd-H should be fo “Hide”!!!
Every function should have a shortcut.

Sound Output/Input:
I have attached an Alesis IO 14 FW interface to my mac and I can’t get the sound output through the internal speakers of my mac (output is set to internal speakers in SoundSource!)

Beside this, really great work, the best so far for a mac metronome! THANKS!

I really love this tool! The ability to set the tempo by tapping is just perfect for working on rhythm. I’m a bassist, so that’s pretty important :)

I just have one feature request: When I’m using the tuner, it would be great if I could select from different inputs from within the program. That is, between my computer’s line-in and any of the USB audio devices I have connected. I have SoundSource installed so I can do it from the menu bar, but it’s not the elegant solution I would love.

Hi Pascal, thanks for the feedback. It is absolutely possible to make it Apple Remote ready. Actually, it already is Apple Remote ready, if you use Remote Buddy from http://www.iospirit.com. This way, you can use Apple Remote as virtual keyboard, and interact using Space bar and Return Key. That leads to your second question, where you address the value input boxes. You can use the arrow keys and mouse to change values, but you need to select them first. I imagine you could also do this using Remote Buddy, if you had activated Virtual Mouse in some way. I may address keyboard shortcut for value inputs in the next update of TapNTune. It’s a good idea.

it’s a great tool, thanks a lot! I would like to remote TapNTune via Apple Remote Control. Is there any possibility to change values in TapNTune by using apple script, or keyboard shortcuts only?

Thanks Alexander. David, thanks. Are you noticing the problem with all pitches, or just the low/high ones? I’ll probably include a general db increase in the next update, along with the option to choose different wave forms, which will also increase the volume of the synth.

Is there a way you could make the max sound louder? I have the Volume in TapNTune all the way up, and the vol on my Mac quite loud.
